I went to Harvey Nichols & MasterCard's Luxe After Sunset Event at Pacific Place two days ago.

The event featured a fashion show that showcased the finest pieces of Spring Summer collections from various brands that are present at the luxury fashion store.

Here are my favorite items:

Ruffles and sequins in white, always the best pieces for romanticists.

Loving the golden beads and the bold leader belt.

See the little cute bow tie on the blue shirt?

How can you miss florals!

Red and animal prints are always the best companions for you to look effortlessly fierce.

Skate dress in blue tribal prints is a good choice for a look that is suitable for both day and night.

You would never resist the black translucent chiffon dress.

Loving the tony tail hairstyle and the little green dress.

Black and beige with golden chains and beads make the perfect royalty-like outfit.

Take a look at his jacket and shirt, you can see coconut trees on them.

Excessive sequins in bright floral prints. This is how you make a big fashion statement.

I love the florals on her dress.

White pieces with cut-out details is a great trend this season!

Interview with Hill: British Sartorial Essentials for Modern Men

It was a lovely Saturday afternoon. I came to the Hill studio, a Hong Kong based menswear label, for an interview with the British designer, Anthony Hill. Judging by his pinstripe blazer and tailor-cut navy shorts, I could immediately tell how important quality and cutting were to Anthony.

So here is my 15-minute interview with Anthony about his brand, Hill.

J: Jin of Remedy Rouge

J: Why did you choose Hong Kong as the base of your fashion label?

A: Hong Kong is a vibrant city with people who have their own style. But I noticed that there were very few boutiques and independent brands with an aim of quality here. Shopping malls are filled with fast fashion brands and international labels of which the design goes with the big trends. Because my brand, Hill, put a great emphasis on style that is simple, classic and with great quality, I hope that with my brand’s presence in Hong Kong, people here will make use of more mix-and-match and become more classy.

J: What element of Hill do you think Asian People would like a lot?

A: Asian people embrace tailored cut and slim fit outfits with unique style. Our brand, Hill, has a wide collection of slim-fit and tailored-cut blazers, shorts and pants. There are also items in different cuts, but the vast majority is what Asian people really look for. Also, because of the humidity and high temperature in Asia, people prefer lighter and breathable fabrics. Hill’s linen or cotton based blazers would be able to cater to their needs.

J: What is the typical lifestyle of Hill’s customers?

A: 50% of our customers are Hong Kong locals while the rest are expats. They have a sense of style and an appreciation on quality, design and tailoring than the general fashion trends. They are international with a global vision, they travel very often. They are mostly in the business and finance sector who work from Monday to Friday and dress down on Friday at work. And yes, they like grabbing a few drinks after work in Central.

J: Can you use some other brands to describe the style of Hill?

A: Paul Smith and Brook Brothers.

J: How is the style changing in Hong Kong and what do you think is going in the future? How are you planning for the future?

A: I think that fashion in general is going through a revolution because of the widespread information about styling and dressing we see on magazines, newspapers and the internet. People will care about fashion more and they will try to dress up to reflect their own style and personalities. More clothes will be tailor-made and more individuality will be seen on different clothing collections around the world.

I anticipate that the fashion world will be a combination of fast fashion and quality fashion like our brand.

I found that our brand, Hill, is at the bright side of all these challenges because it focuses on the quality and design of the clothing. No matter how the fashion trends evolve, it’s the quality and tailoring that make a person’s outfit look flattering. Therefore you will feel good wearing it and even be happy to pass your clothes to the next generations because of the enduring quality and classic style that won’t fade away with time.

I bumped into this girl who was doing a photoshooting on Pottinger Street. She dressed in a all-black silhouette with heavy tulle, chiffon and polka dots. It's smart to layer up and mix different fabrics for a single color outfit.

As I'm posting this, summer is approaching, think she has to take off the socks.

Snapped this girl on Pottinger Street (one of my favorite streets in Hong Kong) who was sporting a pink t-shirt dress out of all the other black pieces - black blazer, black booties, black stockings, and the black railings.

Her hair kind of goes perfectly with the pink tee. Isn't it?

Craving for being sharp and fierce? Here you go.

The other day I was in the Karen Millen Spring Summer 2012 Review and was fascinated by the delightful dresses, ruffles, pleats and all those little details of the latest collection. As always, Karen Millen's craftsmanship of creating a modern and chic silhouettes never fail. Here I got you some photos to give you the ideas!

Double red. Like the ruffles and single shoulder detail of the dress on the right.

Lots of asymmetric pleats.

Lace is still a big hit for the upcoming S/S 2012. Don't miss it.

The silver metals makes the little belt chic and tough. Looks like this is what a strong and independent woman should wear.

Nothing beats a classy lace jacket.

The printed blouse and bangle pencil skit match perfectly well. See the small purse in purple? CUTE.

Loving the blue bag on the model. (Don't try to guess the height of the person on the right)

Geometric prints are what a modern woman want.

See? Perfect example of the geometric-print dress!

Patent leather accessories remind me of those classic ladies in the 60s.

I was actually impressed by Karen Millen's S/S 2012 collection, especially the dresses. Maybe it's because I always want to be something strong and independent, and Karen Millen's dresses remind me of those role models that I'm striving to be. Guess I have to get more dresses in red and geometric prints.

Denim, Pink and Purple

I decided to go for a pink-ish causal look during the weekend. As always I liked looking boyish with a feminine touch. I tied my all time favorite denim shirt in bow knot and paired it with a light pink suit pants with a thin belt in lipstick pink. The Maiati Purple handbag is from A7, a brand under the Mexican fashion group, Itzelli. Love the little tassels on the bag, it add colors to the outfit.

The coming summer of 2012 is a never-ending story of excitement and exoticism, as by Spring Summer 2012 collection of EQ:IQ that brings digi floral prints, pajama cut dresses, pop colors and romantic laces onto the runway.

The show of EQ:IQ is about to start, are you ready?

The conceptual print dress in loose cut and knee length makes it a perfect dress for sunny days and the beach.

The digi prints are squeezed inside a few structured stripes. Love it.

Another funky dress in chromatic-hue prints.

Coral shirt (buttoned up) and tulip cut printed skirt is a mix of peppy and modern style.

What I loved about the show was that the venue was decorated with many makeup stands, looking like the back stage of a fashion show.

This is my favorite piece - white blazer with floral prints on the top.

And mix the blazer with white tank and white pants.

Brown and white hues complement the printed tee and make it more work-friendly.

No girls are ever tired of a bohemian-style white crochet dress.

Loving the lace and the sequins on the skirt.

Lace shirt and linen blazer - perfect for a chic workwear look.

A basic white crochet tee is what you need for the summer.

Dress in all-white and feel flowy with a white crochet long vest.

Fragrance for the Young and Elegant

I didn't know much about this pink and gold flacon before I tried to smell it and feel it.

This is a new fragrance by Salvatore Ferragamo, namely the Signorina created by world-renowned perfumer Sophie Labbe.

The delightful Signorina is a statement of subtle elegance and grace. The Italian word "signorina" refers to young ladies. But here, it means trendy young ladies with timeless modernity, creativity and audacity. It's a fragrance that sparks you with Italian racy chic and elegance.

They have a launch party at Seeva where the whole room was filled with fresh floral scents in dewy, jasmine, peony, panna cotta and musks.

So I got this little pink box delivered to my door some day.

There is a huge "LUX" written on the box. Luxury you mean?

Oh, it's My Lux Box!?

Another white box inside.

Opened up the white box, there is still another wrapping covering the mysterious content! What's so "LUX" inside?

Oh! It's a bunch of luxury skincare sample products and discount coupons. There is even a card giving out the details of all the sample products and the price list of the full products.

My favorite is the Alqvimia Body Stretch Stopper Oil (the one with the little olive bottle). It's smooth and relaxing. You can use it as massage oil as well.

So this box is sent to me by My Lux Box. It is a skincare startup that sends you a box of luxury beauty sample products to your door each month at a reasonably low subscription fee - HK$100 only.

I'm not a big fan of skincare/cosmetic products, but I found the idea of having a bunch of luxury beauty samples cool. All I need to do to get this is to drink 2 cups of Starbucks coffee less each month.

Try it, it's cool! :D

Sparkling with Swarovski This Summer

My eyes were filled with sparks after returning from Swarovski's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection Launch Party at the French Window @ IFC Mall. The party featured the theme of Swing, Sing and Shine, which made the party brisk and delightful.

The venue was decorated in pink with lots of cupcakes, marshmallow and champagne around the jewellery collection. I felt like being in a personal closet of a Swarovski Girl.

While waiting for the show to begin, I was craving for the marshmallow inside the can and next to a sparkling Pin-up Violet Necklace... (evidence below)

5 Minutes with Christopher Waller

British womenswear designer Simon Christopher Waller, who launched his debut fashion collection of Christopher Waller in July 2010, has emerged as a new star in the fashion realm with his craftily-made garments with minimalist design, squared cut and ingenious use of fabrics.

Christopher Waller has shared with Remedy Rouge about his inspirations of the latest A/W 2012/13 collection and how he positions his London-boyish-chic brand in Asia.

But before that, let's see Remedy Rouge's favorite looks from the A/W 2012/13 collection:

Jin: How did you found your brand? What motivated you?

CW: It was more of an accident really. I went to do an art foundation course which is a requirement in UK before you can go onto a creative degree. And the idea was to then do graphic design, however my portfolio after a year ended up being more fashion based so that then took me into studying a fashion degree. After working at John Richmond for a couple of years I thought it would be good to try out my own brand and see where it took me. It’s a lot more interesting working for yourself, following your own briefs instead of someone else’s.

Jin: What other brands can describe your CW's style the best?

CW: CÉLINE, 3.1 PHILLIP LIM.

Jin: Where do your inspirations of the AW 2012/13 collection come from?

CW: The brand’s handwriting of ‘London boyish chic’ was developed with a progression into leather panelled outerwear, digitally printed silks and jersey and lace combinations. The muse for the season was Jean Seberg in the French film “Breathless”, who I think captures who the Christopher Waller woman is for AW12/13.

Jin: I noticed that a lot of CW's pieces are in monochromatic or basic hues with unique cut. Asian people tend to wear clothes with lots of details and are less concerned about the cut. How would you position CW in Asia?

CW: Actually we have found that Asian markets seem to really like the minimal look of Christopher Waller’s garments. Since we’ve been online we have had quite a lot of interest from various Asian countries. I think that style-savvy Asian customers really appreciate the products that come out of Europe as European and British fashions can have a real feeling of quality and style but without adding all the details. The cut of Christopher Waller garments is really important, and since the cut of CW’s garments is often quite squared, so they are quite flattering for a number of different body shapes.

Jin: What kind of Asian people would be the best to sport your brand?

CW: In our campaign this year, we used a British actress called Sophie Wu, who is part Chinese – I think she represents the brand really well for AW12/13. Also, I think that the Chinese movie star, Zhang Ziyi, represents glamorous Asian women very well, and I would imagine that a lot of Asian women would aspire to be like her.

Jin: Can you use one sentence to define CW?

CW: Christopher Waller is defined with sporty elegance and a chic wearability derived from elegant and boyish references.

Needless to day - red jeans is a great hit in FW 11, but this trend doesn't seem to stop in the coming SS 12. Spotted this girl on Hollywood Road who is wearing a pair of red jeans, blue-strip top and bomber jacket. A perfect ensemble for afternoon tea with your friends. :)

This is my outfit on a weekend. But it looks like I'm going to school or office :P I pull on a white sweater to cover my blue denim shirt, then I tie a knot, and voila - a geeky (maybe classic as well?) look is done! I like adding the brown leather belt to make it look more casual. The clutch is handmade by an Australian brand named Mogil. :)

Snapped a photo of this father of 2 kids. He was wearing a newsboy cap, squared glasses and a v-neckline buttoned cardigan with tipped trim. It reminds me of the style in the 1920s. The only difference is that he was carrying a modern and stylish stroller.
